President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (05/25) arrived at the hotel where he would be staying for the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dozens of members of Indonesian diaspora stood in lines along the hotel lobby. Dressed in batik clothing, they expressed a strong sense of nationalism, even while far from their homeland.
Upon stepping out of his vehicle, President Prabowo was immediately greeted by Wili and Sahla, two Indonesian children studying in Malaysia. They presented him with a bouquet of flowers.
“A little nervous, but I’m also happy to meet the President for the first time,” Wili said.
“At first I was nervous, but after a while, not so much,” Sahla said.
Afterward, President Prabowo, with a warm smile, approached the line of diaspora members. He greeted them one by one and took time to have brief conversations.
This warm welcome marked a meaningful start to President Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia. In addition to attending the series of the 46th ASEAN Summit, the President is also slated to discuss key regional issues in meetings with leaders of several partner countries.
The presence and enthusiasm of the Indonesian diaspora that evening reflected the strength of emotional and national ties that bind them. For them, the President’s arrival was more than just a state visit — it was a symbol that the nation is present and cares for all its people, wherever they may be.
