President Prabowo Subianto and President of the Republic of Peru Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra held a bilateral meeting over a working lunch with their official delegates at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (08/11).

In his opening remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for President Boluarte’s visit and the presence of the Peruvian delegation in Indonesia.

“Your Excellency President Dina Boluarte of the Republic of Peru, and distinguished delegation, once again, thank you for the honor of your visit. We are grateful to receive you on this state visit,” said President Prabowo.

He highlighted that this occasion marked their second meeting within the past year, following a previous meeting in Lima, Peru, in November 2024 and discussions on the side event of the APEC Summit. This historic moment serves as a strong foundation for deepening bilateral ties and exploring broader cooperation in strategic sectors.

“This visit holds special significance, as tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru. I am confident that our cooperation can be further strengthened, as we share common goals. We desire to improve the welfare of our people,” President Prabowo stated.

President Boluarte, in her remarks, also expressed her gratitude for the invitation extended by President Prabowo. She noted that the visit had been in planning since their meeting at the APEC Summit in 2024.

“Since then, we have worked through our ministries and foreign affairs ministry to make this visit a reality. We are pleased to mark this occasion, as you mentioned, Mr. President, with our presence here, commemorating the 50th anniversary of friendship between our two brotherly nations, Indonesia and Peru,” said President Boluarte.

She also highlighted concrete deliverables to enhance trade relations, including the signing of the Indonesia–Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which facilitates the entry of Peruvian blueberries into the Indonesian market and paves the way for market access for pomegranates.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your commitment, which has helped shorten the process and procedures—allowing us to now say this has become a reality for Peru,” she added.

The bilateral meeting served as a strategic momentum for both nations to discuss concrete deliverables to broaden cooperation across various sectors. Both Indonesia and Peru reaffirmed their commitment to fostering close ties as countries in the Pacific region with shared aspirations for development (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MMB)
