President Prabowo, PM Wong Witness Signing of Several Strategic MoUs

President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the signing and announcement of several strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Indonesia and Singapore during his state visit to Singapore, on Monday (6/16). The signing, held at the Parliament House, marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, ranging from economy, energy, defense, to human resource development and low-carbon technology.
A total of five MoUs were exchanged in the presence of President Prabowo and PM Lawrence Wong, namely:
- The Joint Report to the Leaders on the Six Bilateral Working Groups;
- MoU on Food Safety and Agriculture Technology between the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture and the Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment;
- MoU on Sustainable Industrial Zone between the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry;
- MoU on Cross-Border Electricity Trade between the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry; and
- MoU on Cross-Border Carbon Capture and Storage between the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry.
These five agreements laid the foundation for concrete cooperation in promoting green economy, food security, and cross-border energy connectivity. In addition, several other MoUs were also announced on the occasion, including:
- Implementation of the Agreement on the Realignment of the Boundary between the Jakarta Flight Information Region (FIR) and the Singapore FIR, including the stationing of Indonesian Civil-Military Cooperation in Air Traffic Management personnel at the Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre;
- Implementation of Treaty for the Extradition of Fugitives;
- The Joint Update on Defence Cooperation;
- MoU on Mutual Recognition of Halal Certification between the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) and the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (will be signed on June 18, 2025);
- Bilateral Financial Arrangement between the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Bank Indonesia;
- MoU Concerning Cooperation on Human Resources Development of the Government Officers in the Maritime Field between the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation;
- MoU on Cooperation between the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office and the Singapore Attorney-General’s Chambers;
- MoU Cooperation in the Field of Library and Information Management between the National Library of Indonesia and the Singapore National Library Board;
- Cooperation to establish Ciputra SMG Curie Cancer Center (CSCCC) between Ciputra Hospital and Singapore’s Curie Oncology, Singapore Medical Group (SMG);
- Investement of Nusantara Sembcorp Solar Energy Power Plant in the Nusantara;
- A joint venture by Sembcorp and Panbil Group to jointly develop two new low-carbon industrial parks in Batam;
- Technical arrangements for the Youth Exchange Program;
- Young Farmer Development Program; and
- Launching of flights to and from Singapore – Kertajati and Padang by Scoot Airline.
These agreements demonstrated strengthened holistic cooperation, encompassing aspects such as law, defense, education, and aviation services. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/MMB)
