President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated Godean Market, Sleman regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta province, Wednesday afternoon (08/28). Godean Market, which was built in 1980, had undergone renovations in 1994.

In his remarks, the President told traders to care for and maintain the cleanliness of the market.

“This market has now turned much better, right? So, please maintain this market well, keep it always clean, and serve buyers well with a smile. It’s OK if you can only earn a little profit as long as it is steady, right?” said President Jokowi in his dialog with the traders.

The revitalization project of Godean Market cost Rp89 billion and is now already completed, enabling the market to accommodate approximately 1,800 traders.

“And by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby inaugurate Godean Market, in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta province,” he concluded.

Also present with the President during the inauguration were Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta province Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Regent of Sleman Kustini Sri Purnomo, Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Diana Kusumastuti.
