President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received the “Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance)” from His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The honor was presented directly by King Abdullah II during his state visit to Indonesia on Friday, November 14, 2025, in a ceremony held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is awarded to kings, princes, and heads of state, and may also be conferred upon prime ministers. The order consists of several classes, with the Bejewelled Grand Cordon being the highest and most prestigious tier.

This conferment reflected King Abdullah II’s recognition and appreciation of President Prabowo’s contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan, particularly in humanitarian cooperation, regional stability, defense, and global issues of shared concern.

The Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda is a distinction of exceptional prestige. Many prominent world figures ranging from royalty to heads of state have received this honor, including Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and consort of Queen Elizabeth II; King Frederik X of Denmark; Queen Máxima of the Netherlands; Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany (2005–2021); and President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló. This distinguished list underscores the award’s esteemed position in international diplomacy.

Following the conferment ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono stated that the award is not only an honor for Indonesia but also a form of recognition of President Prabowo’s role in global leadership. “It is a mark of appreciation. I believe it is also a source of pride for us that the President has received it,” Minister Sugiono said in his remarks to the media.

The ceremony at the Merdeka Palace further highlights the warm and mutually supportive relationship between Indonesia and Jordan, including cooperation on issues related to Palestine, education, and global humanitarian missions. The award also acknowledges President Prabowo’s role as a leader who actively strengthens inter-nation dialogue and positions Indonesia as an important bridge for regional stability.
