Cabinet Secretariat’s Assistant to the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for State Documents and Translation convened a focus group discussion (FGD) themed “Formalization of English Translation of Ministry/Institution Nomenclature to Achieve Collaborative Governance.”

Assistant to Deputy Cabinet Secretary for State Documents and Translation Yuyu Mulyani emphasized that the FGD served as a strategic inaugural step toward establishing a standard for translating nomenclature into English.

She stated this goal during her remarks at the Royal Padjadjaran Hotel in Bogor City, West Java Province, Thursday (10/17).

According to Yuyu, numerous nomenclatures within ministries and institutions face significant challenges in translation because these processes are executed individually without standardized guidelines, resulting in non-uniformity and inconsistency.

To address this issue, she stressed the need for synergy and cooperation among ministries, institutions, and stakeholders.

Yuyu also expressed optimism that standardized guidelines for nomenclature translation could yield substantial benefits. Her hopes extend to the broader utility of these guidelines in official state documents, negotiations involving diplomats, and regulatory pages impacting the wider community.

“I hope that these standardized guidelines will be employed by various stakeholders. They should be incorporated into official state documents, utilized by our negotiators and diplomats at negotiating tables, and featured prominently on regulatory pages that influence the broader community,” she remarked.
