131,600 Households Enjoy Easy Access to Free Electrical Installation in 2023
In 2023, the Government through Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) had carried out a program of free new electrical installation (BPBL) for 131,600 households throughout Indonesia. The number is higher than the initial target of 125,000 households.
“We have achieved a 100 percent realization, precisely 105 percent or 131,600 installations, and it had completed last November,” Director General of Electricity, Ministry of ESDM, Jisman P. Hutajulu said, as cited from the Ministry’s website, Monday (01/22).
Previously, Jisman added, in 2022 the realization reached 80,183 households, which was slightly higher than the initial target of 80,000 households. Meanwhile, for 2024, Ministry of ESDM has planned to provide new electrical installations to 80,000 households.
“This year, we have targeted 80,000 households, and we have learnt that there are 200,000 households that need BPBL. Hopefully we can manage it,” he said.
BPBL is a free new electrical installation program for households that do not have access to electricity yet in all Indonesian regions. The program is also one of the Government’s efforts in increasing electrification ratio, and it also shows that the Government has played an important role in providing easy access to electricity for the people. Jisman emphasized that BPBL program is very important considering that electricity is essential and it is much needed by the people.
“The new installation is provided for the people who have no electricity meter, have not used the service of the state-owned electricity company PLN, while the distribution network is already available near their houses,” he mentioned. (PR of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources/UN) (AW/MMB)
