Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate pairs raise their election’s number for 2019 election, at KPU Building, Jakarta, Friday (21/9) (Photo: IST)

The General Election Commission (KPU) has completed  the drawing of the official number for the 2019 Presidential and Vice Presidential election ballot at KPU office, Jakarta, Friday (21/9).

Pair Joko Widodo-KH. Ma’ruf Amin got number 01, while Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno got number 02. The number “0” was added instead of putting only “1” and “2” to avoid the possibility of collision with the number of political Parties.

The drawing result number becomes the basis of the KPU Decree Number 1142 / PL.02.2-KPT/06/KPU / IX / 2018 on Determination of the Official Number of the 2019 Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Pair.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who represented candidate pair number 01, in his remarks invited candidate Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno to conduct political contestation by competing programs, ideas, track records and achievements The President also expressed hope that in this political competition, all parties can avoid defaming, insulting, mocking each other candidates for it does not represents the value of Indonesia.

“I want to maintain good relations with my political rivals because we have built our friendship for a long time,” President Jokowi said.

In the meantime, Prabowo Subianto welcomed the idea to contest in the election in a peaceful manner for the sake of Indonesia.

“We are all big families in this country; therefore we must address the nation’s problems as our common problem,” Prabowo said.

Also present on the occasion were Commissioners of the KPU, the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the Election Organization Ethics (DKPP), Chairmen of Political Parties supporting each Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate, and the winning teams of the two candidate pairs.
