Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
It is an honor for Indonesia to welcome the visit of Vice President of the United States, His Excellency Michael Richard Pence. This is my first meeting with the new administration of the United States. However, I have communicated by phone with President Donald Trump since last January.
In receiving the courtesy call from Vice President Pence, we have discussed a number of bilateral and international issues. The first is the commitment of the United States to enhance its strategic partnership with Indonesia, which will focus on cooperation and investment sectors. Next month, there will be a team to discuss the arrangement of bilateral trade and investment based on the principles of win-win solution.
The second is, as the largest Muslim population country in the world as well as the third largest democratic country in the world, we also agreed to strengthen the cooperation on peace.
I think that is all I can say in this auspicious occasion. I also send my best regards to President Donald Trump through Vice President Pence.
