Discussing State Security, President Summons TNI Commander-in Chief, TNI Chiefs of Staff, and Police Commander-in-Chief
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), on Wednesday afternoon (22/10) in Merdeka Palace Jakarta, summoned the Commander-in-Chief of Indonesian National Military (TNI) General Moeldoko, Army Chief of Staff General Gatot Nurmantyo, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Dr. Marsetio, Air Force Chief of Staff Chief-Air-Marshal Ida Bagus Putu Dunia, the Commander-in-Chief of Indonesian National Police (Polri) General Sutarman, and Head of Indonesian National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Marciano Norman.
In his press release delivered under Ki Hujan tree to the journalists in Merdeka Palace, President Jokowi said that the main point of the meeting is that he demanded a briefing on security issues and other matters related to state security, economy, politics, and social affairs.
In Anticipation of Fuel Oil Price Rise
TNI Commander-in-Chief General Moeldoko, who was surrounded by the journalists after the press conference with President Jokowi, said that he was summoned to discuss and anticipate the effects of the plans to increase fuel oil prices. Those are the alternatives that we will take in the future, Moeldoko said.
Moeldoko added that TNI are ready to cooperate and to safeguard the Governments activities.
Meanwhile, Head of Indonesian National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Marciano Norman said that he has reported the developments of general national situation after the presidential inauguration took place on 20 October 2014. The situation is relatively conducive and we must maintain it. Everyone is urged to give support, he stated.
The Head of Indonesian National Intelligence Agency (BIN) also stated that he has received directives from President Jokowi requiring BIN to remain professional and keep the situation conducive.
In order to perform its duties professionally as best it can, and in order to keep situation conducive, BIN urges all the public to maintain this situation. Lets give our president the opportunity to start his work programs as he expects, Marciano stated. (WID/Humas Setkab/ES)
