Presiden Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said, compared to other countries, Indonesia is still better in facing global, economic, and financial uncertainty caused by the United States’ monetary policy normalization.

“We are still better in those areas as well as in other external factors, such as oil prices, US-China potential trade war, and international geopolitics situations,” the President said in his introductory remarks at the Limited Meeting on Macro Policy and Fiscal Policy Meeting (KEM PPKF) of 2019, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/15).

However, President Jokowi reminded to always look out for any risks, especially global economic uncertainty and global financial volatility.

“We also need to prepare mitigation of global uncertainty, as well as to anticipate the movement toward new balance of global economy,” the President continued.

President Jokowi also reminded to stay focused on maintaining security stability, so that the Government’s work to improve welfare, reduce poverty, and create jobs can be accelerated.

Earlier in the introductory remarks, President Jokowi requested that national economic growth in the first quarter of 2018 that reached 5.06 percent can be further increased, by maintaining purchasing power, increasing investment, and improving export competitiveness.

Specifically for export, President Jokowi stressed that various obstacles in licensing, banking, financing— including tax and customs, should be immediately eliminated, in central as well as regional governments.

“We need to do it now and expect to see the result soon,” President Jokowi concluded.
