President Jokowi Meets Singaporean PM, UN Secretary General
President Joko Jokowi Widodo on Thursday (11/10) received Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Laguna Resort. The two leaders held a tete a tete followed by the annual meeting between Indonesian delegation and Singaporean delegation.
Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said that the annual meeting with Singapore is a routine meeting. “The meeting will follow up several cooperation between the two countries,” Minister Retno said before accompanying President Jokowi in welcoming Prime Minister Lee.
After the meeting, President Jokowi and Prime Minister Lee witnessed the signing of three Memorandum of Understandings between the two countries.
There were three agreements between Indonesia and Singapore signed at the meeting. First, the MoU on Investment Promotion and Protection, signed by Singaporean Minister of Industry and Trade, Chan Chun Sing and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi. The second agreement, the Cultural Cooperation Program 2019 – 2021, particularly in the Art and Legacy, was signed by Singaporean Minister of Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu and Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy.
The third agreement, the MoU on Financial Technology Cooperation was signed by Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Ravi Menon and Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso.
For the record, before receiving Singaporean Prime Minister, President Jokowi at the same place held a bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Accompanying President Jokowi during the meeting with Singaporean PM were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, Minister of Defense Ryamizard Ryacudu, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, and Governor of central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo. In the meantime, present during the meeting between President Jokowi and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
