President Jokowi Attends Biography Book Launch

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (13/12) attended the launch of his biography book entitled Menuju Cahaya (Towards Light) held at Mulia Hotel, Senayan, South Jakarta.

The biography was written by Alberthiene Endah, a biographer, novelist and journalist who has written several biography books of Indonesian public figures.

The event was also attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Attorney General Prasetyo.

On that occasion, President Jokowi said that a development process is not always pleasant for everyone, but in the end the people will enjoy the results. “We should educate people not to love instant results,” he said.

President Jokowi also mentioned three keys to winning global competition and becoming a big country, namely infrastructure development, human resource development, and structural reform.

“We will implement the human development programs in a large scale right after the infrastructure development which has been the Government’s focus for the past three years,” the President added.

President Jokowi also reminded that today it is not big countries that defeat small countries, or strong countries that defeat weak countries but fast countries that will defeat slow countries. (FID / OJI / ES)
