President Jokowi Inaugurates Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (20/2) at the State Palace, Jakarta inaugurated Syamsuar and Edy Nasution as Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau Province for the 2019-2024 period.

The pair won the 2018 simultaneous regional election with 799,289 votes or 38.20 percent, defeating the other three pairs.

The inauguration ceremony began by reverberating the National Anthem Indonesia Raya and was followed by the recitation of Presidential Decree Number 2/P of 2019 on the Appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau Province for the 2019-2024 period. Afterwards, the pairs took oath before signing the inauguration ceremony minutes.

Also present at the inauguration were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, Indonesian Police Chief General Tito Karnavian and Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan.

Prior to official inauguration, President Jokowi handed over the excerpts of the Presidential Decree to the Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect at the Credential Room of the Merdeka Palace.
