Govt Allocates Rp1 Trillion to Establish 1,000 Job Training Centers in Islamic Boarding Schools
In 2019, the Indonesian Government will allocate Rp1 trillion to set up 1,000 Job Training Centers (BLK) in Islamic boarding schools across the country, according to Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri.
With the existence of job training center in Islamic boarding schools, the students and the surrounded community will have access to job trainings that meet the needs of the local labor market, said Hanif during the signing of Agreement for Job Training Center (BLK) for Communities Phase I Year 2019, at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/20).
According to him, President Joko Jokowi Widodo has initiated the program in a bid to equip the Islamic boarding school students with hard skills, in addition to the soft skills and character education.
Hanif explained that the program has begun since 2017, with the establishment of 50 job training centers, followed by 75 job training centers in 2018.
Today, the Government is signing the Agreement for Job Training Center (BLK) for Communities with 500 Islamic boarding schools as the first phase of the program. The second phase is expected to be done no later than mid-March this year with the other 500 Islamic boarding schools, the Minister added.
With the existence of the job training centers, Hanif expressed hope that Indonesia will have a sufficient number of skilled and qualified human resources spread evenly in all regions across the country. As such, Indonesia will be able to become the worlds fourth largest economy as predicted by several survey institutions. (DND / JAY / ES)
