President Jokowi to Visit Ani Yudhoyono in Singapore
President Jokowi accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo on Thursday (21/2) departed to Singapore to visit former Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.
Ani Yudhoyono is currently under an intensive medical treatment in the city state.
In a press conference before flying to Singapore, President Jokowi said that he personally makes time to visit Ani Yudhoyono, who has been diagnosed with blood cancer. I also will meet with (former president) Bapak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), President Jokowi said, adding that he will return to Indonesia directly after the visit.
The President called on the nation to pray for Ani Yudhoyonos speedy recovery. All of us pray that she will quickly recover and return to Indonesia, he added.
Ani Yudhoyono has been hospitalized at Singapore’s National University Hospital since 2 February. Previously, SBY through a video recording on Wednesday (13/2) explained that his wife must undergo a medical treatment after she is diagnosed with blood cancer. SBY also thanked everyone who has prayed for his wifes quick recovery.
Allow me to convey my gratitude to everyone, including all friends in Indonesia who prayed and wished for her recovery, including those on social media. May God the Almighty repay your support and kindness, he said. (OJI/ES)
