Gov’t Distributes 2,010 Land Certificates in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi

After launching land boundary marking movement, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo distributed 2,010 land certificates to the residents at the Bahteramas Building, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Saturday (2/3).

In his remarks, the President stated that certificates are really important since it constitutes a legal proof of property ownership.

For the record, the Government has issued 5 million certificates in 2017, and 9.4 million certificates in 2018, exceeding the target of 7 million certificates. The Government has also set a target to issue 9 million certificates this year.

“For those who have already received the certificate, please put it in a plastic cover and make a copy of it so that if the certificate is lost, the copy of it will make reissuance process at the National Land Agency (BPN)  easier,” the President added.

On that occasion, President Jokowi told certificate holders to not often use their land certificates as collateral for bank loan.

“You may use it to get bank loan but you must calculate it first whether you can pay the monthly installment or not. If you don’t think you can do it, do not take the loan,” the President firmly said.

The Head of State also reminded the people that once they receive the loan, do not use it to buy a car or motorcycle. Use it to have capital to start a business and investment, he added.

After earning income from that investment, the President added, you may save the money and use it for other necessity.

On that occasion, President Jokowi reminded people that Indonesia is a big country and is a home for diversity. Therefore, he called on the people to maintain ukhuwah (brotherhood) to preserve our diversity.

“Do not split up because of political choices,” the President firmly said.

The Head of State also warned the people to not spread hoaxes and believe that hoaxes because there is also manner or ethic in practicing politics.

Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Ali Mazi asserted that people in Southeast Sulawesi are happy with this certificate distribution.

Representatives of land certificates recipients in that event are, among others:

  3. La Ode Husain
  4. Hasmita
  5. La Saleh
  6. Eri
  7. Hermin
  8. Astuti
  9. Ali
  10. Sariana
  11. Asudin.

Also joining President Jokowi in the event were among others Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Secretary General for Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR)/ National Land Agency (BPN) Himawan Arief, Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Ali Mazi, and Mayor of Kendari Sulkarnain.
