“It is our hope that this airport can drive economic growth in Central Kalimantan. As we can see, the number of passengers and cargo services has increased rapidly,” he said.

During the inauguration, the President also inspected facilities at the new terminal, whose construction is allocated from the state budget amounting to approximately Rp700 billion. “The construction of the new terminal, taxi ways, and runway expansion took around four and a half years and spent a total budget of approximately Rp700 billion,” he said.

The new terminal has an area of ??29,124 square meters from previously 5,000 square meters and can now accommodate up to 2,200 passengers from previously 600 passengers daily.

For the record, the expansion of Tjilik Riwut Airport’s new terminal is part of President Jokowi’s infrastructure program during his administration in the past four and a half years.  (BPMI/EN)
