AWOL Cases Dominate Civil Servant’s Disciplinary Violations

Violations of Government Regulation Number 53 of 2010 on Discipline of Civil Servants (PNS) Article 3 Number 11 on Compliance with Working Hours has once again dominated disciplinary violations involving civil servants.

The Civil Servants’ Personnel Advisory Agency (BAPEK) together with Cabinet Secretariat, Attorney General Office, and Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms on Thursday (11/4) held a meeting to discuss violations committed by civil servants at both central government and regional governments at the central Civil Service Agency (BKN) office.

The meeting was led by Head of the BKN Bima Haria Wibisana, who is also the secretary of BAPEK. anddiscussed 23 cases of disciplinary violations, mostly in the form of absence without leave (AWOL).

The meeting also discussed recommendations for sanctions to be imposed on civil servants involved in those disciplinary violations and administrative appeals to BAPEK.

In addition to disciplinary violations above, there are several other disciplinary cases discussed during the meeting, including misuses of authority to immoral acts.

Various sanctions were also recommended starting from mild, moderate, and severe disciplines. According to Article 7 of Government Regulation Number 53 of 2010, mild disciplinary sanctions include verbal or written reprimands; moderate disciplinary violations include demotion, while severe disciplinary sanctions include dismissal.
