Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms Syafruddin said that the development of the Integrity Zone in Government working units must be accelerated and every working unit should immediately achieve the status of Corruption-Free Zone (WBK)/Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone (WBBM).

“Don’t delay the development of integrity zone. Corruption-Free Zone, and Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone are in line with the culture and values ??of the BPK which is independent, clean, and professional,” the Minister said in his remarks during the Workshop for Strengthening Public Service Quality to Develop Integrity Zone within the Supreme Audit Board (BPK RI), at the BPK Office on Thursday (11/4).

Syafruddin added that the integrity zone is also an important indicator for achieving the goals of sustainable development, namely the development of effective, accountable, and transparent institutions. Therefore, he said, the development of an integrity zone is not only carried out by the BPK, but also by all working units in government institutions.

He went on to say that to achieve status of Corruption-Free Zone and Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone is not easy, because it requires a commitment and a joint effort from leaders, staffs, and the community. Syafruddin also said that a signed commitment is needed to achieve a systematic and sustainable improvement of the institutions.

For the record, in 2018 there were 910 proposals for the integrity zone pilot projects. After reviewing process, there were 200 working units granted the status of Corruption-Free Zone and five working units granted the status of Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone, of which three were from the BPK.

“Integrity is intangible power that moves all human beings to change, while integrity zones are living systems and mechanisms, in which there are cultures, values, principles, visions, and organization goals,” Syafruddin said.

In the meantime, Chairman of the BPK Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara said that the BPK, from its central office to representative offices, is committed to develop the integrity zones to make the BPK an institution that is able to maintain public trust. Moermahadi added that another important thing in the development of integrity zones are synergy between human resources, governance, facilities and infrastructure, information technology, and monitoring and evaluation.

He went on to say that the BPK has taken several significant measures to automate its business processes with the development of the Examination Application Information System (SIAP), the Human Resource Information System (SISDM), the Follow-Up Monitoring Information System (SISPTL) and the Complaints Information Application System (SIPADU).

“On behalf of the BPK, I invite all BPK staffs to maintain the commitment to make the BPK an institution that is able to maintain public trust. We cannot achieve maximum results, no matter how great our effort is, if we hurt public trust,” he said.

On that occasion, the heads of representative offices of the BPK from all provinces in Indonesia, witnessed by Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms and the Chairman of the BPK, signed joint commitment to achieve Corruption-Free Zone and Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone.
