President Jokowi: Saudi to Increase Indonesia Hajj Quota

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that the Indonesian Government received extra hajj quota from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during his meeting with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, at the King’s Private Palace (Al-Qasr Al-Khas), Sunday (14/4).

“After meeting with King Salman, alhamdulilah, praise be to Allah, 10,000 Indonesia’s hajj quota for pilgrims has officially been granted to the Government,” President Jokowi said after the inauguration of Halal Park at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex on Tuesday (16/4), Senayan, Central Jakarta.

For the record, the quota provided by Saudi Arabia Government for Indonesia increases from 221,000 to 231,000 pilgrims.

The President went on to say that he has also requested King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to add more hajj quota.

“I have proposed King Salman to increase the quota to 250,000, since the hajj waiting list is 35 – 40 years, but he has not officially responded to the request yet,” the President added.

According to President Jokowi, King Salman has officially confirmed that  he granted an additional10,000 hajj quota for hajj season this year. However, there is no confirmation regarding the 2020 Indonesia’s hajj quota yet.
