Land certification is part of the national strategic program and will be completed as quickly as possible, according to Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan A. Djalil.

The Minister made the statement in his remarks during the distribution of 5,300 Land Certificates for West Kalimantan residents in Pontianak, Wednesday (24/4).

“The target for land certification this year is 9 million (land certificates). We hope we can exceed that target to 11 million or 12 million. In 2018 the target was 7 million and we could complete 9 million (land certificates). We believe that by 2025 all parcels of land in Indonesia will be certified,” Sofyan said.

For the record, the land certificates distributed in Pontianak are part of 41,247 certificates issued under the Complete Systematic Land Registration and Land Redistribution programs. The remaining certificates will be immediately distributed to the certificate holders.

Most of the land certificates submitted are from the forest areas located in 14 Regencies in West Kalimantan. The release of the forest areas was carried out by Ministry of the Environment and Forestry, supported by Ministry Agrarian and Spatial Planning through land redistribution program.

Regarding land certification in West Kalimantan, Sofyan added that the Regional Office of National Land Agency in West Kalimantan has continuously made progress in the last four years by issuing certificates for 540,224 parcels of land.

He went on to say that the feat comes from cooperation between the Regional Office of the BPN and the Regional Government of West Kalimantan.

On that occasion, the Regional Office of the BPN also handed over the awards to local governments of Sintang, Sekadau, Kapuas Hulu, Singkawang, Kubu Raya and Pontianak as well as to Pontianak Branch of PT Pelindo II and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk for their support in land registration program.

The Regional Office of the BPN also handed over 122 land certificates of West Kalimantan Provincial Government’ assets and 1 land certificate for Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
