On Second Day of His Visit in Busan, President Jokowi Visits Daewoo Shipbuilding Company

Before attending the ASEAN – Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit which was organized on Thursday afternoon (11/12), on the morning of the same day President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took the opportunity to visit Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Company in Busan, South Korea.

DSME already establishes cooperation with PT PAL (Indonesia’s state-owned shipbuilding company) in building three submarines which Indonesian government has ordered with total values amounting to about USD 250 million.

DSME officials welcomed President Jokowi and his entourage, and invited him to enter the room in which replicas of various ships which DSME has built are displayed.

“It’s good,” President Jokowi said while nodding his head when he observed the ship replicas.

Meanwhile, when he filled in the guest book provided by DSME which builds many kinds of ships ranging from passenger ships to submarines, President Jokowi wrote, “Extraordinary technology.”

On that occasion, President Jokowi and his entourage also observed the shipbuilding yard.

In this visit to DSME, President Jokowi was accompanied by, among others Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucracy Reform Yuddy Chrisnandi, and Head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Marciano Norman.
