Gov’t Aims to Boost Priority Industries
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said that the road map for the implementation of industry 4.0, which has been launched in April 2018, is important to create clear, measurable and integrated measures to deal with a rapidly-changing world, especially the 4th industrial revolution.
“To become an industrialized country, we must dare to change and to make various leaps of progress and breakthroughs,” the President said in his remarks during a Limited Cabinet Meeting on the Acceleration of Industry Road Map 4.0 at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/9).
These breakthroughs, he added, must be started by resolving asynchronous regulations, improving the quality of human resources, building a good industrial innovation ecosystem, increasing incentives for investment in technology, as well as redesigning industrial zones to improve the flow of materials.
President Jokowi also expressed hope that the measures for change must be truly implemented, especially in the priority industrial sectors, namely the food and beverage industry, the textile and fashion industry, the automotive industry, the chemical industry, and the electronics industry.
The President said that a stronger structure of national industry will be able to significantly increase the GDP. “It will increase exports and investment, and will also provide new jobs that can absorb more workers in our country,” he continued.
During the meeting, the Cabinet Ministers reported the implementation of the Road Map for Industry 4.0. to the President.
