President Jokowi Appreciates Tzu Chi Assistance in Palu

In his series of working visit, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo also inspected the permanent houses (huntap – hunian tetap) construction site funded by the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation at Tondo, Mantikulore District, Palu, Central Sulawesi Province, Tuesday (29/10).

“I expect this funding model to be developed so that the Government, private sector, and everyone can jointly help in the event of disasters,” President Jokowi said.

The President on behalf of the Government expressed gratitude with the Foundation’s assistance. Moreover, in total there will be 3,000 houses to be completed before Eid Al-Fitr.

President Jokowi also ordered that the Governmentconstructed huntap in Duyu can be completed in 2020.

“Don’t make the displaced residents waiting too long,” the President said, adding that the construction was hampered by land acquisition process and already resolved by Regional Government.

Also accompanied the President were First Lady Ibu Iriana, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara, Head of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola, and Palu Mayor Hidayat.
