President Jokowi Meets Indian PM in Bangkok Summit

On the sidelines of the 16th ASEAN-India Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Sunday (3/11) met with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in a bilateral meeting.
According to Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, PM Modi during the meeting reaffirmed his support for central economy in ASEAN and appreciated President Jokowi for initiating outlook ASEAN adopted by all ASEAN member countries.
“PM Modi added that President Jokowi’s concept is exactly mirroring his concept,” Retno said in a media briefing after the second day of ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, Sunday (3/10).
According to the Minister, President Jokowi and PM Modi also raised the issue of economic cooperation following political cooperation between the two countries that have been enhanced.
Regarding the issue of Crude Palm Oil (CPO), PM Modi, Retno added, asserted that he will give fair treatment for Indonesia’s CPO.
PM Modi, she added, also appreciated Indonesia as one of 12 founding members of Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) launched in the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit in New York on 23 September 2019.
Accompanying President Jokowi during the bilateral meeting were among others Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto.
