Gov’t Sets Up Joint Task Force to Tackle Radicalism

In a bid to tackle radicalization among the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), the Government has set up a joint task force and launched a complaint portal website called Aduan ASN.

“We are here to ensure that ASNs across the country has high competence and strong national spirits,” Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G. Plate said during the launching of the state civil apparatus (ASN) complaint portal and the Signing of a Joint Ministerial Decree on Handling Radicalism, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/11).

As many as eleven ministries/institutions participate in supporting the portal, including Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Education and Culture, the State Intelligence Agency, the National Agency for Counter-Terrorism, the Agency for the Development of Ideology for Pancasila, the National Civil Service Agency, and the State Apparatus Commission.

The signing of the joint decree is part of the follow-up to previous meetings between the related ministries/institutions on radical tendencies among ASN.

Ministry of Communications and Informatics was assigned as a facilitator to provide digital infrastructure (Aduan ASN website) in order to stop the spread of radicalism. The portal is expected can be used by the public for fact-backed complaints.

In addition, Secretary for Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Dwi Wahyu Atmaji said that the joint taskforce will make the handling of intolerance and radicalism among ASN more systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.

“This portal will direct the complaints to the Government and will be handled by the Government as well,” Dwi said.

Furthermore, Deputy of the Human Resources (HR) Apparatus for Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms Setiawan Wangsaatmaja said that there were three mechanisms in dealing with ASN complaints, including receiving reports on public complaints through the ASN Complaints portal, discussing the public complaints that enter through the portal.

“Third, we will give recommendations to the PPK (Personnel Development Officer) or the Authority Officer (PyB),” Setiawan said.

The recommendations will be forwarded to Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), and the State Apparatus Commission (KASN) to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the taskforce’s recommendations.

There are five criteria for negative radicalism that can be reported through the portal, including intolerance, anti-system, anti-Pancasila, anti-Unitary Republic of Indonesia, as well as other contents that can cause national disintegration.
