8 Tunisia Institutions Ready to Develop Indonesian Gov’t Translators, Interpreters

A total of eight educational and translation institutions in Tunisia have expressed their readiness to assist the skill development of Indonesian government translators and interpreters in Arabic translation.

The statement was conveyed during a meeting with the delegation of Cabinet Secretariat in Tunis, Tunisia, Wednesday (20/11) local time.

As previously reported, Cabinet Secretariat is the fostering institution for Indonesian Government Translators and interpreters.

Those eight institutions are Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of 9 Avril University, Tunis; Faculty of Literature and Humanities of Sousse University; The Institute for Training and Studies of Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Institute de Traduction de Tunis (Tunis Institute of Translation); Bourguiba School; Tunisia-Africa Press Agency; and Tunisian National Library.

Furthermore, the delegation of Cabinet Secretariat, led by Assistant Deputy for Meeting Organization of Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Cabinet Work Support Sjahriati Rohmah, will prepare a draft proposal for an MoU as a legal umbrella governing in more details the rights and obligations of the cooperation in Arabic translation training.

“Under the MoU, government translators and interpreters around the country will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in Arabic translation by learning directly to Arabic native speakers,” Sjahriati said.

With the training, the Government translators and interpreters are also expected to be a communication bridge between the Government and its counterpart abroad and to strengthen cooperation between countries and improve the welfare of the people. (MFM/HYP/ES)
