BKPM to Assist Investors in Obtaining Business Permits
The Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has announced it will assist investors to obtain business permits.
“Prospective investors can come to the BKPM office and ask for assistance particularly on managing business permits,” said Head of the BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia after attending a Limited Meeting on Acceleration of Ease of Doing Business at the Office of the President, Jakarta, Thursday (21/11).
During the meeting, Bahlil said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has handed over all licensing authority to the BKPM, which was originally handled by various ministries and institutions.
Bahlil added that the measure is expected to improve the country’s Ease of Doing Business index so that investors will obtain the permits faster without having to visit several institutions.
Regarding the Online Single Submission (OSS), Bahlil said that it only takes 3 hours to get a Business Registration Number (NIB); yet, the NIB is not the only permit needed to run a business.
Other permits still have to be processed at related ministries/agencies, he added.
“Because the licensing procedure has not been centralized in the BKPM,” Bahlil said, adding that in January next year, all licensing and the OSS system in regencies, cities, and provinces are expected to fully integrated with the Central Government. (FID / JAY / ES)
