President Jokowi Orders Acceleration on Budget Spending

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo instructed all ministers and heads of institution to accelerate budget spending due to the global economic slowdown.

“In this situation, our speed in spending the existing budgets in each ministry is an important lever for improving the unfriendly global economy, especially with the coronavirus outbreak,” President Jokowi delivers his remarks at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Anticipation of Global Economy Impact at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Tuesday (11/2).

The President expressed hope that before the end of February budget spending in all ministries/institutions can be realized. “For example, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has done very large spending,” he added.

The President also exemplified Ministry of Social Affairs for the spending on the Family Hope Program (PKH). He also asked that the Village Fund can be disbursed in the near future to stably maintain rural areas’ purchasing power and consumption. (FID/EN)
