It is time to improve the country’s ecosystem balance, preserve flora and fauna, and carry out reforestation in areas vulnerable to floods and landslides, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“Mount Merapi National Park (TNGM) Jurang Jero can accommodate 6 pairs of Javan Hawk-eagles, yet only one pair is released today,” President Jokowi said after symbolically releasing Javan Hawk-eagles in Mount Merapi National Park (TNGM) Jurang Jero in Magelang Regency, Central Java Province, Friday (14/2).

If there are other Javan Hawk-eagles to be released, the President continued, small birds should also be released for their food resources.

“I have also asked to plant vetiver trees and other plants that have economic and environmental values,” the President said, adding that he will continue to encourage the people regarding vetiver plants planting. (TGH/EN)
