Amid concerns over the spread of coronavirus, the Indonesian Government announced it is still in search of a place to quarantine 188 Indonesian citizens working as crew members aboard the World Dream cruise ship.

“That is what the Government is doing now,” Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto said after attending a limited meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/2).

The evacuation for Indonesian citizens on World Dream cruise ship, the Minister added, is a bit different with those in Diamond Princess cruise ship.

According to him, passengers aboard the World Dream have a smaller risk of being infected by coronavirus because none of them tested positive for the virus.

“We hope all Indonesians on board can come home clear but they still need to be observed for 14 more days,” Terawan said, adding that the quarantine location should be in an uninhibited land and the Government will manage to provide good quarantine facilities.

For the record, Indonesia has yet to confirm any coronavirus cases in the country to date. The virus, which has spread to some 30 countries, has killed more than 2,500 people in China and infected more than 77,000 worldwide. (UN/EN)
