President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has delivered his message on the 1441 Hijri Isra and Mi’raj commemoration.

The remarks were delivered by the President on Sunday 22 March 2020/27 Rajab 1441 Hijri via his twitter account @jokowi at 11.32 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

President Jokowi said that today the world is struggling with a pandemic that prevents many people to travel. “We commemorate the Mi’raj of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) when the world is facing a pandemic that forces humans to limit their travels,” President Jokowi said.

At the end of the tweet, the President prayed for the Indonesian people and all of humanity. “I hope that our nation and all of humanity can get through this difficult time,” the President said.

For the record, Isra and Mi’raj is commemorated every 27th of Rajab in the Islamic calendar. Isra Mi’raj is commemorating the journey taken by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) to Sidrat al Muntaha (the highest sky), where the Prophet was given the order for Salat—the daily ritual of Islamic prayer. (EN)
