The President Adds Ministries/Institutions in COVID-19 Task Force Structure

In a bid to strengthen COVID-19 Task Force in performing its duties, the Government deemed it necessary to add ministries/institutions in the structure of the team.

Under that consideration, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stipulated Presidential Decree Number 9 of 2020 on the Amendment to Presidential Decree Number 7 of 2020 on Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Mitigation.

Article 8 reads that  structure of the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Mitigation consists of:

  1. Supervisor

Head: Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs;

Deputies: 1. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs; 2. Minister of Health.

Secretary: Minister of Finance.

Members: Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense, Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Education and Culture, Minister of Social Affairs, Minister of Manpower, Minister of Trade, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Communication and Informatics, Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Minister of National Development Planning/ Head of the National Development Planning Agency, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform, Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/ Head of  Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Minister of Research and Technology/ Head of  National Research and Innovation Agency, Minister of Youth and Sports, Head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Presidential Chief of Staff, Head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Head of the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP), Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and Governors of all provinces.

  1. Executor

Head: Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.

Deputies: 1. Secretary General of Ministry of Health; 2. Secretary to Minister of State-owned Enterprises; 3. Secretary General of the National Resilience Council; 4. Assistant Operations of TNI Commander; 5. Assistant Operations of Polri Chief.

Based on this Presidential Decree, budget to fund the COVID-19 Task Force will be sourced from the State Budget, Regional Budget, and other legal and binding sources based on the provisions of laws and regulations.

To expedite import of goods that will be used for the mitigation of COVID-19, Heads of Ministries/Institutions shall exempt import business licenses to the Head of COVID-19 Task Force.

“This Presidential Decree shall apply as of the date of its stipulation,” Article II of the Presidential Decree which was signed by President Jokowi on 20 March 2020 reads. (EN)
