Online registration of Pre-employment Card program for job seekers and formal/informal workers affected by national economic slowdown due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will start on the second week of April 2020 on the website www.prakerja.go.id.

Implementation and focus priority of the program is expedited as an effort to implement Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2020 on Refocusing Programs, Budget Reallocation, and Procurement of Goods and Services for COVID-19 Handling Acceleration. In addition, the program also aims to provide social protection and mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic to the national economy.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto asserted that Pre-employment Card has been adjusted to comply with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s directives. The program is not only prioritizing young workers and job seekers but also those directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Government has allocated a budget of Rp20 trillion for this program. We hope the program can maintain purchasing power of the workers, as well as Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises business players whose income has decreased and/or lost their jobs,” the Minister said in Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4).

In the meantime, Secretary to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs as the Secretary of Job Creation Committee, Susiwijono, said that data collection of those affected by the pandemic to receive Pre-employment Card will involve a number of ministries and institutions.

“For that reason, strong cooperation among ministries/institutions is expected to be able to reach those who are in need,” he added.

The program will target 5.6 million beneficiaries in 2020. Each beneficiary to receive, in total, Rp3,550,000, consisting of Rp1 million for job trainings, Rp600 thousands per month (for 4 months) for post-trainings incentive, and Rp150 thousands for working survey incentive (Rp50 thousands per one survey).

Each beneficiary is only allowed to take the program once. The incentive will be paid after the participant completed at least one training.

For the record, Pre-employment Card is a competency development and productivity program provided in form of training incentives to all Indonesian citizens aged over 18 who are not attending school, and directly affected by COVID-19 pandemic. During the outbreak, the beneficiaries can take online trainings in several digital platforms, namely Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Skill Academy by Ruangguru, MauBelajarApa, HarukaEdu, PijarMahir, Sekolah.mu and Sisnaker.
