Cabinet Secretary Tells Freshmen to Improvise in Education
The Government has issued a number of regulations that provide freedom for university students to improvise and not only depend on education set by the university, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has said.
According to Pramono, the Government will also facilitate an internship program for the students so they can learn about professional world.
“The Government has taken into account the current changes in education paradigm that education can also be sourced outside the campus,” he said at a virtual “Student Orientation of Indo Global Mandiri University for New Freshmen 2020”, on Monday (5/10), in Jakarta.
He also pointed out that autonomy is crucial to stimulate creativity on education system.
He went on to say that the university will have autonomy to devise, develop, and conduct education activities by still following rules established by Minister of Education of Culture.
On that occasion, Pramono also motivated the freshmen to dream big and take undergraduate degree.
“When Marzuki Alie (former Speaker of the House of Representatives-DPR who is also rector of Indo Global Mandiri University) and I led the DPR as vice speaker, we took doctoral degree and completed it. It is a great asset for me for my self-development and I believe the Rector felt the same way too,” he said.
The Government also opened opportunities for students to pursue higher degree through scholarship program managed by the Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), he added.
“You can apply for scholarship for example to the LPDP or other institutions because there are plenty of opportunity for you. Do your best in learning and dream big since you’ll never know what you will be in the future,” he stated. (FID/UN)
