Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati said that the peak of La Nina is expected to occur in December to January, along with the arrival of the rainy season. Meanwhile, the peak of the rainy season in Indonesia is expected to occur in January to February.

“The peak of La Nina and the rainy season are expected to occur in December, January and February,” Dwikorita said after attending Limited Cabinet Meeting through a video conference on Hydro-meteorological Disasters Mitigation, Tuesday (13/10).

Dwikorita said that the release issued by the BMKG regarding macro weather forecasts generally applies to all regions in Indonesia. She also called on the public to monitor the BMKG mobile application to monitor forecasts, predictions and early warnings on the micro scale for their respective regions.

“For example, you live in Johar subdistrict in Jakarta, we provide forecasts, predictions and early warnings on the micro scale at the subdistrict level. Please always monitor the information through the “Info BMKG” mobile application,” she said.

The mobile application, she added, provides information on weather for every subdistrict in Indonesia for the following 7 days. The weather forecast is updated every 3 to 6 hours every day.

Dwikorita further said that the BMKG offices in Indonesia works hand in hand with offices of the Regional Agency for Disaster management (BPBD) and local governments to disseminate information on changes in weather to the public, and to prepare measures to anticipate the changes.
