Today, Indonesia is entering the demographic bonus period, with a large share of the working-age population. “With the larger share of youth population, it is time for Indonesia to become an advanced nation,” Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said in his message on the 92nd Youth Pledge Day commemoration, Wednesday, 28 October.

The Cabinet Secretary said that young generation has a tough task to achieve an advanced Indonesia, but he believes that Indonesian youths are capable of carrying out the task. “History has proven that the more we are forged, the stronger the nation will become,” Pramono said.

Diversity, he added, is the strength of Indonesia as a nation. “The unity in diversity makes Indonesia a strong nation. In essence, we have one Indonesian motherland, one Indonesian nation, and speak one Indonesian language,” Pramono stated.

In the commemoration of Youth Pledge Day, the Cabinet Secretary also invited young generation to continue to strive for achievements through fair competitions. “The most important thing is we have a healthy body, a healthy mind, and good achievements through fair competitions. Being different is normal, but being united is extraordinary,” Pramono said. (FID/UN)
