The social forestry program should include the issuance of a decree as well as the assistance for the community to manage the decree well, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya has said.

“The more important thing is the assistance for the community to manage the decree. This business aspect is very important, not only for agroforestry but also for ecotourism, bioenergy, non-wood forest products (HHBK), people’s wood industry, and others,” said the Minister when delivering a press statement after attending a Limited Meeting on Community Economic Empowerment Based on Social Forestry, Tuesday (3/11).

The assistance efforts, she added, must be carried out in an integrated manner by involving various stakeholders. “The most important thing is to look at this social forestry from upstream to downstream. Therefore, earlier I reported to the President that Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises and Minister of Villages, assisted by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, will provide consolidated support for the management of people’s businesses that is more systematic with corporate class,” Siti said.
