Gov’t Provides Tax, Excise Duty Exemption for COVID-19 Vaccine: Finance Minister
Ministry of Finance provides free excise duty, free value added tax and sales of luxury goods added tax, and free income tax for the first batch of Sinovac vaccine arrived in Indonesia.
“We also provide services starting from the mechanism for procurement and requirements for fiscal facilities, as well as rush handling from the notification of import of goods to the release of goods,” Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said on Monday (07/12).
The Minister estimated that the customs value of the import of the vaccine is US$20,571,978. “The estimated fiscal facility obtained from this import is Rp50.95 billion, including the exemption from import duty of Rp14.56 billion and imports tax of Rp36.39 billion,” she said.
Sri also stated that the Ministry’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise, as a unit that provides support for the vaccine import service, has carried out its duties and functions according to Regulation of Minister of Finance Number 188/PMK.04/2020.
“Last night (the vaccine) arrived. The vaccine was immediately checked and then sent to the state-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma warehouse in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung escorted by the TNI (Indonesian National Defense Forces) and the Polri (Indonesian National Police),” the Minister said.
In the service process, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise joins hands with Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW).
“Ministry of Finance will continue to provide support in terms of budgeting and planning for the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program, especially those that will be paid by the Government,” the Minister said. (Public Relations of Ministry of Finance/UN) (RI/MUR)
