Gov’t Issues 6.8 Million Land Certificates during Pandemic
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (5/1) symbolically distributed 584,407 land certificates for recipients in 26 provinces and 273 regencies/municipalities.
The President affirmed the Government’s commitment in speeding up the issuance of land certificates for all people across the country.
“In 2020, despite the pandemic, the Government still issued 6.8 million of land certificates,” he said.
In previous years, the National Land Agency (BPN) has successfully issued 5.4 million certificates in 2017, 9.3 million in 2018, and 9 million in 2019.
“Allow me to express my highest appreciation to Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/ the National Land Agency, National Land Agency Regional Offices at provinces, regencies, and municipalities for their hard work to meet the target,” he added.
The President went on to say that the issuance of land certificates needs to be accelerated to solve agrarian issues and land disputes because the land certificates serve as evidence of legal ownership of land.
In his remarks, he remind the recipients to keep the certificates safe, and make a copy so that when the original is lost, the copy can be used to process the replacement.
The Head of State further said that land certificate holders can use their certificates as collateral for bank loan. In that regard, he told the recipients to well calculate and assess their payment capacity if they want to apply for bank loan. (TGH/UN) (RAS/MMB)
