President Jokowi Calls People to Make 2021 Momentum to Rise
In a bid to realize an advanced nation, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo invited all elements of society to make 2021 a momentum to rise from the difficult situation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“All 215 countries in the world experience the same thing as we do. In the future, we have to face and achieve these challenges and opportunities,” President Jokowi said in his virtual remarks at the opening of the Kompas100 CEO Forum adopting the theme “Let’s Collaborate; Rising in Pandemic Era ”, Thursday (21/1).
On this occasion, the Head of State stated a number of opportunities and challenges that must be faced as a nation, starting from efforts and opportunities in the short, medium, to long term.
In the short term, President Jokowi stated that the Government will continue social assistance and assistance for MSME actors programs. In addition, he also includes COVID-19 vaccination and maintaining health protocol as challenges and efforts that must be realized in the short term.
Meanwhile in the medium term, the President said the country must develop industries that will be able to survive during the pandemic. “I noted that the industries that will survive the pandemic are the industry of food, pharmaceutical and hospital, as well as financial and educational services technology,” he added.
In the long term, President Jokowi said two opportunities that must be worked on by both the Government and the business world are green economy and digitalization since environment and technology play a role in sustainable economic growth.
“2021 will be our momentum to rise. If we can get through this crisis well, we will be more prepared to respond to the challenges ahead and transforming our country into a new economic power, a stronger nation, and becoming an advanced nation,” the President concluded. (FID/BPMI/UN) (GWH/LW)
