Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of the Tukul Dam, 14 February 2021, at the Tukul Dam, Karanggede Village, Arjosari District, Pacitan Regency, East Java Province
Bismillahhirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Distinguished Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Distinguished Minister of State Secretary;
Distinguished Governor of East Java and Regent of Pacitan, all regional leaders, Commander of Military Area, Chief of the Regional Police of East Java, the Ulemas;
Ladies and Gentlemen, Esteemed Guests.
Thank God, this afternoon the Tukul Dam, the construction of which started six years ago at a cost of Rp 916 billion, has been completed and is ready for operation.
There are 65 dams across the country that we started the construction six years ago and some have already been inaugurated, including Raknamo Dam in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Rotiklot Dam in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Tanju Dam in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Mila Dam in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Teritip Dam in East Kalimantan Province, Gondang Dam in Central Java Province, Sei Gong Dam in Riau Islands Province, Nipah Dam in East Java Province, and today we inaugurate Tukul Dam in Pacitan, East Java Province. In addition to this dam, next week we will inaugurate Napun Gete Dam in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Tapin Dam in South Kalimantan Province, and Sindang Heula Dam in Banten Province.
This dam, I reiterate, plays a very important role in flood control, irrigation of rice fields, and also the supply of raw water, with the capacity of 300 liters per second. This is for the residents of Pacitan. With a capacity of 8.7 million cubic meters, this dam can provide enormous benefits for 600 hectares of rice fields, thereby increasing the cropping index from the existing one season for rice and one season for secondary crops to two seasons for rice and one season for secondary crops. God willing, this can be implemented in the near future.
I hope that the Tukul Dam in Pacitan will function as an important infrastructure, strengthen food security and strengthen water security. I order the provincial government (and) the regency government to make the best use of this infrastructure to provide added value to the region, provide benefits for the communities, increase agricultural production for the region, and also facilitate the provision of clean water for the region.
That concludes my remarks on this auspicious opportunity. And by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, today I inaugurate the Tukul Dam in Pacitan Regency, East Java Province.
I thank you.
Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
