President Jokowi Attends National CNY Celebration 2021
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung attended the 2021 National Chinese New Year Celebration, virtually from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Saturday (20/2).
President Jokowi who wore red changshan extended his message for the 2021 Chinese New Year to all Chinese Indonesians and wished them a happy and prosperous new year.
He went on to say that year of the Ox reflects strength, courage, determination, discipline, and dedication to the country and nation.
“We must show the strength, courage, determination, and discipline natures of the Ox in addressing the current problem and crisis. Measures to overcome health issue during COVID-19 pandemic must continue to be carried on. We also need to continue the enforcement of health protocols, 3T measures (testing, tracing, and treatment), micro-scale Public Activity Restrictions, and vaccination program,” the President said during the National Chinese New Year Celebration that adopted a theme “To the Country, We Devote and Care”.
In addition, the Government is also facing a challenge to recover the national economy. To date, the Government has been carrying out social assistance programs since 2020 to help the grassroots in meeting their basic needs and increase their purchasing power.
“The programs are, among others, the Aspiring Family Program (PKH), Social-cash Assistance, Pre-Employment Card, and Productive Presidential Assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises. The programs have been running since 2020 and will be carried on in 2021,” he said.
On that occasion, President Jokowi called on the people to join hands, to work together, to put all of our strength, courage, and discipline in making leaps of progress and breakthroughs to overcome the health and economic crises, to recover faster than other countries and to achieve the country’s goal to become a developed country.
Also attending the event, were, among others; Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, the sixth Vice President of Indonesia Try Sutrisno, former first lady Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, and representatives of the Confucian Supreme Council of Indonesia (Matakin), the Association of Chinese Indonesian (INTI), the Chinese Indonesian Social Association (PSMTI), the Indonesian Buddhist Association (Permabudhi), the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, and the Indonesian Chinese Muslim Association (PITI).
