Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia during the Inspection of Mass COVID-19 Vaccination, Monday, 22 March 2021, at the Pendopo of Jombang Regency, East Java Province

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

This afternoon, I am in Jombang Regency, accompanied by the kiai, East Java Governor and Jombang Regent. We are still in the middle of vaccination for the kiai, the nyai (leaders of female students in Islamic boarding school), as well as public officers and public servants. Thank God, everything runs smoothly, starting from registration process, screening, vaccine injection to observation. Everything went well.

This morning, I also met with the senior kiai, the kiai from the East Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). They said that the AstraZeneca vaccine can be used, halal (lawful) and tayyib (good). We will encourage the distribution of more vaccines in East Java, then distribute them to the existing regencies/municipalities, so that the implementation of vaccines can be accelerated for Islamic boarding schools, kiai, students, and also for public officers and public servants.

That concludes my remarks on this auspicious occasion.
