Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia in Amicable Gathering with Representatives of Families of KRI Nanggala 402 Crew, Thursday, 29 April 2021, at Juanda Air Force Base’s Hangar, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province

Distinguished Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ministers, Commander of the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI), Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff, Governor of East Java,

Ladies and Gentlemen, Families of KRI Nanggala 402 Crew.

First of all, on behalf of the Government and all Indonesians, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences for the passing of patriots aboard the KRI Nanggala 402. May God give them a decent place, the best place, and may God forgive their sins.

Yesterday, I have asserted that the Government will grant a posthumous promotion from their current rank to the next higher rank for their sacrifice to the state.

In addition, the Government will guarantee the education of your children up until bachelor’s degree. I have ordered the TNI Commander and the Navy Chief to manage the mechanism.

The Government will also build houses for the families whose locations will be determined by you, the wives. It can be in Gresik, Sidoarjo, or other locations. For the mechanism, the Navy Chief and TNI Commander will manage it so it can be realized immediately.

That concludes my statement on this auspicious opportunity. If there are more aspirations or suggestions, let me hear it or you can deliver it to the TNI Commander or the Navy Chief.
