Indonesia has officially received additional one million doses of Sinopharm vaccine, bringing the country’s supply to two million total doses.

“We hope that the arrival of Sinopharm vaccine can support the implementation of Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) vaccination program in Indonesia,” Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force Wiku Adisasmito said in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (15/06/2021).

With the vaccination program continuously intensified, Wiku added, the Government aims to achieve herd immunity.

He went on to say that vaccination rate for the second dose in capital Jakarta has reached 61.93 percent and herd immunity can be achieved if no less than 70 percent of the population has been vaccinated.

Wiku said that the Government has launched an official channel https://vaksin.kemkes.go.id/ for the public to access information regarding the progress of the vaccination program.

He further said that the Government continues to join hands with community leaders and religious leaders as well as other stakeholders in disseminating the importance of vaccines and combating hoaxes.

“The public also needs to ascertain the veracity of the information regarding vaccination by finding information in authoritative sources or asking the experts,” Wiku said. (Communication Team of the KPCPEN/UN) (RI/MUR)
