Ladies and Gentlemen and my beloved Papuan people,

Huwe foi.

Onomi reimai.

Wa wa wa.

Salam olahraga! (literally means: sport greeting)

I believe that all of us are proud to be in Papua and to be in the best stadium in the Asia Pacific region. We are proud to begin the 20th National Sports Week (PON), the first National Games held in the province.

The event reflects the development progress in Papua as well as the readiness of its infrastructure and the people to host the prestigious event and to achieve accomplishment in the national and the global stage.

The National Sports Week carries a special meaning for all Indonesian people as they bring us together to achieve unity, togetherness, brotherhood, equality, and justice and to make progress and prosper together within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The magnificent stadium does not only symbolize Papua’s progress. Sea connectivity, land connectivity, air connectivity, airports, ports, trans Papua roads, as well as Papuan human resources development are other achievements of Papua that we take pride in.

The Government continues to improve the quality and quantity of formal educational institutions. This morning, I inaugurated the groundbreaking of the Papua Youth Creative Hub, which will produce successful entrepreneurs who can increase the added value to Papua’s potential.

We must continue to nurture and develop the achievements of Papuan youth. The achievements of Papuan athletes, such as weightlifter Lisa Rumbewas, Serafi Anelies Unani (athletics), Franklin Ramses Burumi (athletics), Boaz Solossa (soccer), must be followed by other Papuan youth.

The creativity in the fields of music, art, and culture as what we have seen during the opening ceremony filled us with pride. The songs of “Cuma Saya” from M.A.C and “Jang Ganggu” from Shine of Black will surely be followed by other works with the same quality created by Papuan youth.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let us celebrate this National Sports Week with joy.

Let us uphold sportsmanship and strengthen our brotherhood, togetherness, equality, and national unity and integrity.

Let us play our role to ensure the success of the 20th National Sports Week.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, in the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I hereby officially open the 20th National Sports Week in Papua.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. (RI/EP)
