Gov’t Disburses Internet Data Assistance to 3.6 Million Beneficiaries

The Government through Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that it again disburses internet data assistance to 3.6 million beneficiaries consisting of students, teachers, and lecturers in Islamic schools and Islamic universities.

According to Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, this third batch assistance is the Government’s concrete step to support distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic so it runs well. It also aims to fulfill the educational rights of students.

For the record, the internet data assistance beneficiaries consist of 518,978 students at Islamic universities, 16,749 lecturers at Islamic universities, 405 lecturers of Islamic education at regular universities, 446,243 teachers at Islamic schools, 26,117 teachers of Islamic education at regular schools, 431,786 students at Islamic senior high school (madrasah aliyah), 774,634 students at Islamic junior high schools (madrasah tsanawiyah), 1,105,585 students at Islamic elementary schools (madrasah ibtidaiyah), and 291,181 students at Islamic pre-schools.

Ministry for Religious Affairs’ Director General of Islamic Education M. Ali Ramdhani added that the total recipients of internet data assistance are 3,611,678. Those who are eligible to receive this assistance must have registered their phone numbers in one of applications designed for Islamic educational institutions, including EMIS, SIMPATIKA/SIAGA, PTU, and Lintas DAI. (PR of Ministry for Religious Affairs/UN) (AP/MMB)
