Cabinet Secretariat Holds FGD on Media Convergence, Digital Transformation

In a bid to follow up President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s directives on the protection of publishers’ rights, Cabinet Secretariat, Thursday (21/10), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) adopting a theme “Media Convergence and Digital Transformation (Publishers’ Rights)”.

Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Purnomo Sucipto said that the FGD also aims at creating a fair economic benefit to both conventional and digital media.

The FGD featured practitioners on intellectual property rights and communications, head of press council, and high ranking official at Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

Purnomo said that progress from Ministry of Communication and Informatics and related stakeholders in following up the President’s directives and the result of the FGD will be reported to the President for policy making process.

He expressed hope that the result of the FGD can support the making of a policy that can both benefit conventional media and digital media that offer over-the-top service.

The Deputy went on to say that Cabinet Secretariat will continue to encourage inputs from all sides including through FGDs in order to exercise Cabinet Secretariat’s duties to support the President.

“The FGD is expected to broaden our horizon so we can provide substantial inputs to the President. I hope results of this FGD can be well-implemented, benefit us all, and benefit Indonesia,” he remarked. (FID/UN-CABINET SECRETARIAT PR) (RAS/LW)
